1/ Mô tả dạng bài thi dạng LABELING A DIAGRAM/ PLAN/ MAP
-Bài thi nghe IELTS dạng “Hoàn thành bản đồ hoặc sơ đồ” thường xuất hiện trong SECTION 02 hoặc SECTION 03. Loại câu hỏi này sẽ có dạng hình ảnh về một bản đồ hoặc một sơ đồ vị trí các nơi hay đồ vật. Người nghe được yêu cầu điền các vị trí tương ứng được mô tả vào trong bản đồ.
2/ Mục tiêu kiểm tra về kiến thức và kỹ năng
– Dạng bài này nhằm kiểm tra khả năng nhận ra các hướng dẫn về vị trí tương đối của các nơi chốn hoặc đối tượng được nêu.
– Người nghe cần có kỹ năng xác định đúng và hiểu rõ các từ chỉ hướng cũng như sự xác nhận về vị trí của các đối tượng trong mối tương quan chung của cả một bức tranh tổng thể.
3/ Chiến lược làm bài thi IELTS LISTENING dạng LABELING A DIAGRAM/ PLAN/ MAP HIỆU QUẢ
– Đọc kỹ phần hướng dẫn trả lời và câu trả lời mẫu để có được đáp án đúng về cả nội dung và hình thức, chú ý số từ tối đa được phép.
– Nghe kỹ câu giới thiệu trước khi vào bài để xác định nội dung chính của bài nói nhằm định hướng các nội dung sẽ nghe giúp dễ tập trung hơn.
– Xác định vị trí ban đầu của người nghe trên bản đồ hoặc điểm xuất phát của bản đồ và các vị trí có sẵn (key positions) làm các cột mốc theo dõi trên bản đồ.
– So sánh vị trí của các câu hỏi so với vị trí xuất phát điểm và các key positions để dự đoán trước mối liên hệ giữa chúng và các từ chỉ hướng.
– Đọc trước các đáp án sẽ phải điền vào và đánh giá trước các vị trí hợp lý có thể.
– Bám sát vào vị trí được nêu theo la bàn cho sẵn khi nghe nhằm loại đi các vị trí không phù hợp.
– Tất cả nội dung trả lời đều xoay quanh các từ chỉ hướng và vị trí như : west, east, south, north, left, right, at the corner, at the end, next to, near, up, down, between, opposite, behind, go along, across …
– Bám sát vào các key positions có sẵn trong bài nghe để dễ dàng định vị các câu trả lời.
– Các đáp án cho loại câu hỏi này sẽ được nêu theo thứ tự câu hỏi.
– Cố gắng tập trung vào trả lời ít nhất 02 câu hỏi mỗi lần để tránh lạc mất vị trí trong bài nghe gây ảnh hưởng đến tất cả các câu sau.
4/ Các lưu ý đặc biệt cho dạng bài thi IELTS LISTENING LABELING A DIAGRAM/ PLAN/ MAP
– Dù đây là dạng bài thi nghe IELTS dễ nhất nhưng các sai sót do thiếu cẩn trọng vẫn xảy ra làm cho thí sinh mất điểm như:
- Không tập trung theo dõi các từ chỉ hướng và chỉ vị trí tương ứng trong bài
- Không bám vào các key positions
- Nếu đã bỏ lỡ mất một vị trí nào đó thì chuyển ngay sang vị trí kế tiếp trong câu hỏi tránh đắn đo đáp án cũ làm lỡ mất đáp án tiếp theo.

Manageress Good morning everybody. I’d like to welcome you to the Castle Pop Festival. My name is Sandy and I’m the general manager of Castle Pop Entertainments and I just want to take a few moments to mention a few things to you before you go and have your detailed briefings in your work groups. You all have a copy of the plan of the festival grounds. Now most things are obvious, but I’d like to point out first the visitor toilets here along the side of the main area. Kindly do not use these yourselves – your own facilities, the staff toilets, are beside the breakfast tent. Also, there are public telephones behind the stage. I mention these two things because they are places that visitors often ask for. For yourselves, one of the most important places is the staff meeting point. This is new this year and the only thing to remember is that it exists and that when you refer to a meeting point between yourselves you need to make clear which one you are talking about. The staff meeting point is between Campsite 1 and the disabled viewing area. This is not marked on the general maps but it is marked on the maps you’ve got there. The visitors’ meeting point is, as you can see, in the centre of the main area, between the breakfast tent and the entrance. Now another important facility is the first aid tent. This is a big round tent so you can’t miss it. It’s on the right hand side of the entrance – again, as you come in. There are many other first aid facilities all over the festival site.
In fact, there is a first aid box in every tent and sales point, but this is the central point. Finally, I wanted to mention the security on the site. Every year the festival gets bigger and bigger and so every year we have to increase the security arrangements. We have a number of small security offices, one being near the entrance, but the main security office is opposite the disabled viewing area – it’s next to the Olde England Pub so that the officers can keep an eye on what’s going on there. And of course, in that office there is a full supply of first aid equipment, too. And don’t forget, those of you who can’t wait till you get your pay at the end of the festival, there are some cash machines in the wall of the Olde England Pub.

Student Newbridge? No, I haven’t. I’ve never heard of Newbridge.
Officer Well, let me show you – I’ve got a map here. Here’s where everything is. You come into Newbridge over the bridge and the main road in front of you is, surprisingly enough, the High Street. This is one of the main streets.
Student Mmm …
Officer And branching off to the left, you can see there, is West Street – that is another busy part of town.
Student I see.
Officer Now, as I was saying, here is the High Street and here is West Street going left. Now if you go along West Street, the first place you come to on your right is the supermarket – it’s not a very big one but it’s got most things you’re likely to need. Next to it, there’s the old town hall -1 say the old town hall because it is about a hundred years old, but it will soon make way for a car park, I’m afraid. I suppose the car is king. Now opposite the supermarket is the railway station. You can get very frequent buses and trains from here in to the university. And next to that is the sports centre – it’s a brand new one and was built on the site of some tennis courts, so that’s progress. It’s got everything the keen sportsman like yourself might require. Now that’s the centre of town and I want to point out to you the buildings opposite the supermarket, but on the other side of London Road. There are two buildings there: the one further away from the High Street is called The Heights and the one nearer the High Street is called The Towers.
